With that in mind, what’s your experience with communities (…with 30 seconds of context here!)?

Jill -
Probably my first community that springs to mind is IABC/DC Metro (of which I’m president). For the most part, this is a community with which I connect offline, but thanks to social media, increasingly I’ve gotten to know several of my IABC contacts better online.
The second – and this is a bit of a broad stroke – is Twitter. Yes, I follow several thousand people, and no, not all of them feel “connected,” but that’s where I go when I’m looking for information, referrals, etc. Interestingly, this used to be LinkedIn until I became active on Twitter, but I find my Twitter community much more engaged. As a result, even though I have updated profiles on several social networks, Twitter’s my “home base,” as it were.
Have a great time at #smbdc; I wish I could be there!
